A White House official has confirmed that US authorities are going to make it mandatory for almost everyone who wants to enter the country to be vaccinated.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told multiple news agencies that the Biden administration had instructed the agencies concerned to take step-by-step steps to make it easier for international visitors to enter the United States.

However, no instructions have been given as to how long this decision will be implemented.

The rate of covid infection in the United States was on the rise a few days ago due to the spread of the Delta variant. The rate of infection was higher, especially among those who did not get vaccinated.

Under current rules, most international visitors are barred from entering the United States.

In January 2020, the United States imposed a travel ban on China for the first time.

Since then, the scope of the ban has increased.

Under the current rules, a non-US citizen will be barred from traveling to the United States if he or she has recently traveled to the United Kingdom, one of the 27 Schengen countries in Europe, Brazil, Ireland, India, Iran and South Africa.

However, he is being allowed to travel to the United States if he shows a negative certificate within three days of the trip.

Last week, White House Press Secretary Jane Sackie commented that the U.S. authorities would "enforce the ongoing travel ban" as the rate of infection increases - although airlines and tourism companies are opposed to the decision.

White House officials said Wednesday that authorities wanted to start international travel "safely and sustainably" and that they wanted "foreign nationals - from all countries - who want to travel to the United States, to be fully vaccinated."

More than 80% of people in the United States have already received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Nevertheless, the rate of covid infection is on the rise in several states. The state of Florida has a record number of hospital admissions, officials said.

Many regions and businesses have been instructed to wear masks again.
