J rgenho won the UEFA Player of the Year award. The midfielder has been named European Footballer of the Year after winning the Champions League with Chelsea and the Euros with Italy.


Neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo were in the last three of the UEFA World Cup for the second time in a row. The last time this award was won by Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich. De Bruyne, on the other hand, came back from injury and was instrumental in helping Man City win the Premier League. He was named PFA Player of the Year for the second consecutive season in recognition of his outstanding performance.


Champions League-winning Chelsea coach Thomas Itukhel has overtaken Manchester League winners Pep Guardiola to become UEFA's coach of the year.
